More

I think my latest project needs something more. Any ideas? I got the idea from pintrest. The original had a black and white paper with a red ribbon and key around it.

Not What You Think

One would think being this low on thread could be a problem. Nope. I realized the machine wasn't sewing properly but it wasn't the thread, the bobbin ran out. What good timing.

Halloween

I dont do party type things very often. I dont do things with other people often either. I decided to have a girls night, Halloween party. Only 5 people came. It was still fun though. I put way to much work into a party for just 5 people but I was busy all of October getting things together. First I made super cute invitations.

Then I started in on some fun crafts. Most of them I would have done even without having a party, but I guess having a deadline helped me get some things done. I made these cute jars.

They were pretty easy to make and I think I could fill them with different things depending on the holliday so hopefully they will get a little more use out of them other than just for Halloween.

Of course there was food.

See how cute the bean dip is, a spider web. I made some caramel to go with the chocolate chips, nuts and mini M&Ms, but it didn't turn out.

I wasn't sure how many people would show up to my party so I prepared the basement for guests as well in case not everyone could fit upstairs. I found this idea on...Pintrest...who would have guessed. It was realy easy to do and pretty cheap too.

The rest of the basement just had cobwebbs and "egg sacks" again from pinterest. We didn't end up playing in the basement but it was fun to have it all decorated. One night we were watching t.v. and something seemed a bit different. Can you figure out what......

Well if you didnt find the difference, there was a real spider in the webs to the right of the t.v. It was a little creepy, but Justin managed to get the spider out of the web and to its proper place, squished in a tissue.

The party was a costume party and I of course spent a lot of time figuring out a costume. I found an awesome witches hat at target for $2.50 and went ahead and got it, then made a skirt to match... 3 trips to JoAnns and 14 yards of tulle later you get this.

The girls night was a week before Halloween so on Halloween we just had dinner and gave out candy till we were almost out and bored with it, then watch the 1939 version of Dracula. It was very different from movies today. It was in black and white. There was very little dialouge, and there was no background music. I hope you all had a nice Halloween and got to be a little fun and crazy.

Clean

One day last week I decided to sweep and mop the kitchen floor. I started sweeping, then moved onto some other project, then another, then eventually went back to sweeping. I was doing great until I got to the stove. I have intended on cleaning behind it sometime, I just never had. I kept thinking I needed Justin to move the stove, but guess what? I can do it. Here is what I found.

I cleaned and scrubbed the wall behind the stove, the floor under the stove, the side of the stove, and the top upper super greasy dirty top ledge of the stove. It was pretty gross and took a bit of scrubbing. Here are some pictures of the end result.

I sorted through the dirt a bit and found a few interesting things. Anyone missing game pieces?

I also found this  gray M&M. For a little time reference for the last time the kitchen was cleaned, those came out when I was in 5th grade.

And I can't say I didn't receive any payment, I also found a quarter.

Much more than earning a quarter, I'm glad I finally cleaned behind and the sides of the stove. Maybe the floors will get mopped next week. And since it's taken me all week to post this, maybe next week.

Garden

Why is there a picture of a trash bag?

I know in the past I have posted week by week photos of my garden but over the last few years I have becom less fond of my garden. I still love my garden and am glad this year I actually  have time to work on it, finally. We got the garden planted really late because we were going to be out of town and didnt know who to have water it. A lot of people have been harvesting for a few weeks, but so far we only have some good blossoms. I havent actually weeded the garden this year, until today which made for alot of weeds. I weeded before work for about 2 hours and again tonight for another 2 hours. I would have stayed out longer, but I couldnt see anymore. I hope that I am half done! I dont know if I should be proud of the work I did, or ashamed the garden was so bad. Tomorrow it will be hot, but I'm determined to finish it. After pulling so many weeds my garden seems so sparce. I guess it will have room to grow more? I hope in the morning I will be able to get some pictures of what is done and what is not.

This is not one of those little bags. It's a 33 gallon bag! Maybe tomorrow it will be filled.

4th

Wednesday was great! Justin and I woke up early to go to Mackay (pronounced more like ma-key) so we could do some fishing. After getting there and putting the boat in the water we started "trolling" around the reservoir. After about 30 min we started catching fish. I got the first fish of the day and Justin seemed pretty impressed. After I caught the second and third fish he was getting a bit worried. Justin finally caught a fish then I was doing all the catching again. We had a slow afternoon which was just fine because I got to relax in the boat and get the perfect amount of sun. Fishing finally started to pick up again, then the wind started blowing. Our boat is kind of small so it doesn't handle waves very well. I guess if they got to big we could flip over. Justin decided we'd better head back to the dock. Near the dock there was less wind so we fished for a bit longer, but weren't having to much luck. I was starting to worry that my sunscreen was wearing off and decided to call it a day. At that point Justin went to start the boat motor and broke the pull cord....he ended up having to row in. Good thing we were fairly close to the dock. At the end of the day Justin caught 5 fish, and I caught 10! Way to go me. We kept three, letting the others go.
We stopped by and got some sandwiches (so yummy) at a little shop on the way home. We were a bit lazy for most of the afternoon. We did some shopping for a little air conditioner for our room which were all out of stock until Tuesday, which is funny since they had a bunch today when we just happened to check. (Actually I think shopping was Thursday or Friday, man it has been a long week).

Fireworks were really nice. We don't really worry about getting to the river early to get great seats. We can usually find a pretty decent spot without sitting in crowds and hot all afternoon. We ended up sitting by our new neighbors who had gone early thinking it would fill up soon but there was still plenty of room when we got there. The fireworks were nice. Our neighbor kids wanted to sit on our laps so that was fun. We've only met the kids once and they picked us over mom and dad, AND grandma and grandpa. Maybe it was the cotton candy we had...

Last night we ate the fish we caught. When I went to cut the red pepper for salad this is what I found.

I thought it was interesting since the outside looked so pretty. I don't remember ever having a vegetable or fruit rot from the inside. I hope every one had a nice 4th of July.

You'd Think

Disclaimer: I think all my readers are women, also all related to me, if not you might not want to read...you have been warned.

You'd think after thirteen or so years of being a "woman" I'd be able to buy the pads I like...I guess not. Yesterday I realized my storage was out so trying to restock I bought two packages today. I didn't realize my mistake utill I opened the first package. Well I figured I'd at least return the one unopened package. Intresting to me, I learned that WalMart (at least) will take back opened packages of femine products. I guess they can't resell them opened or closed so they don't care. Click the link below for a news story from a few nights ago that might explain why.

Here

Maybe thats not the real reason stores cant resell some items, but I think its a little funny that this story happened then I learned my little lesson. So incase any of you cant make the right purchase the first time its worth trying to return/exchange for the right kind.
